History

1962 Erwin Hymer acquires the rights from Dornier, the aircraft manufacturer, to produce aluminium ladders and starts at July 1st 1962 together with Fritz Lang production in Neumühle.

1970 Building starts in Käferhofen.

1971 Relocation to Käferhofen. Introduction of the bolted rung to stile. The red stripe was introduced.

1974 Production lines to manufacture interior parts for coaches and buses are introduced.

1979 Rung ladders with clamped rung to stile joint are taken in production.

1991 A new corporate design is introduced. The brand with the red stripe gets a stronger position and a target image is defined.

2002 40 years of Hymer Leichtmetallbau. Fritz Lang handed his position as chairman of the board over to Eberhard Lang.

2003 ALPE Ladder and Scaffolding Trade is incorporated into Hymer-Leichtmetallbau. Set up of Hymer-Technik, Ankara/Turkey. The production of components for buses and coaches started here in August.

2004 Production starts at Michalovce, Slovakia.

2005 Reorganization in order to reach the strategical targets.

2006 Start of “Live to see Hymer” and presentation of Hymer’s easy to handle assembly of mobile towers.

2007 Relaunch of the threepart professional range of ladders with the introduction of series manufacturing in the second quarter.

2008 Foundation of a sales representation in Kasachstan.
